Svelte Development

A compiler, not a runtime — small bundles and direct DOM updates.

Svelte's distinguishing idea is that most of what a framework does can happen at build time. Components compile to imperative DOM updates, so there is no virtual DOM to ship or diff — the result is markedly less JavaScript for the browser to download and execute. On a mid-range phone over a slow connection — which is the median user for most of the businesses we serve — that difference is felt rather than measured.

Why we use it

We use Svelte where bundle size is a genuine constraint: an embedded widget, a public interface on unreliable connections, or a page where interaction has to start fast on modest hardware. We are honest about the trade-off. The ecosystem and hiring pool are smaller than React's, and for a system that must be maintainable by whoever comes next, that is a real consideration — sometimes a decisive one.
