HTML & CSS Development

The layer everything else is built on, done properly.

Every framework compiles down to HTML and CSS, and every accessibility, performance and SEO problem eventually traces back to them. Semantic markup is what lets a screen reader navigate a page, what search engines read for structure, and what makes keyboard navigation work without extra code. Modern CSS has also absorbed most of what used to require JavaScript — layout, sticky positioning, scroll behaviour, container queries — and using it removes weight from the page rather than adding it.

Why we use it

We treat markup as an engineering concern rather than an implementation detail. Headings form a real outline, controls are actual buttons and links, forms have labels, and interactive elements reach a visible focus state. It is also the cheapest performance work available: a page built on semantic HTML with modern CSS needs far less JavaScript to behave well, which is felt most on exactly the devices our clients' customers are using.
